Nijiiro Days: A Young Man’s Attempt to Approach His Heart’s Desire

Have you ever liked someone, but you didn’t have the courage to express your feelings to them? So what do you do when you have the opportunity to get close to the person you like, but your crush’s best friend considers you a nuisance and keeps trying to keep you away from your crush? This is what happens to a high school student in the movie “Nijiiro Days”.

Based on the manga of the same name by Minami Mizuno, the movie Nijiiro Days tells the story of four friends who are in the same class at school. They are Natsuki Hashiba (played by Reo Sano), Tomoya Matsunaga (played by Taishi Nakagawa), Tsuyoshi Naoe (played by Mahiro Takasugi), and Keiichi Katakura (played by Ryusei Yokohama).

Natsuki likes a girl who is in a different class. The girl is Anna Kobayakawa (played by Ai Yoshikawa). Natsuki is too shy to be frank about his feelings for Anna. Every morning, Natsuki went to school by bicycle and secretly matched her departure time with Anna’s arrival at the station. They always met at the station and talked briefly, but Natsuki still couldn’t express her feelings.

Every day, Natsuki told her friends how happy she was to see Anna. However, her friends were not satisfied with that. They encouraged Natsuki to get closer to Anna.

One day, Natsuki was about to try to say hello to Anna by coming to her class. Unfortunately, she had to be disappointed, because Anna’s best friend Mari Tsutsui (played by Yuri Tsunematsu) didn’t like Natsuki getting close to Anna. She always prevents Natsuki from meeting Anna, and even considers Natsuki as a bully.

Mari’s attitude actually caught Tomoya’s attention. He tried to find out why Mari hated Natsuki so much and forbade her from approaching Anna. What exactly makes Mari feel disturbed by Natsuki’s presence? Find the answer in the movie Nijiiro Days. Not only a high school love story, this movie also presents a story about the problems that are often faced in high school regarding friendship and the future. Happy watching!
